President Droupadi Murmu will commence a four-day official visit to Goa, Karnataka and Jharkhand starting Saturday, according to an official statement.
The tour aims to engage with cultural, educational and community initiatives across the three states. President Murmu will depart for Goa on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, she is scheduled to undertake a sea sortie aboard a submarine from Karwar Harbour in Karnataka, highlighting her engagement with India’s defence and naval operations.
On December 29, the President will participate in the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki, the script of the Santhali language, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
The same day, she will also address the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, underscoring her support for academic excellence.
On December 30, President Murmu will address the Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh – Kartik Jatra at Gumla, Jharkhand, reinforcing her commitment to promoting cultural heritage and regional traditions.
Before this tour, President Murmu presented the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 20 children from 18 states and union territories on Friday.
The awards recognised exceptional achievements in fields such as art, culture, sports, innovation and community service.
In her address, the President extended blessings to the young achievers and praised their families for their unwavering support.
She also highlighted the significance of Veer Bal Diwas, observed annually on December 26 to commemorate the courage and sacrifice of the Sahibzades, sons of Sikhism’s tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Recalling history, she honoured the memory of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, whose bravery continues to inspire generations in India and across the world.
President Murmu also commended Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi and her team for organising the award ceremony.
