Pratapgarh House Collapse: CM Yogi Adityanath Expresses Grief Over Six Deaths

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow on Thursday over the deaths of six family members in a house collapse in Pratapgarh district.

In a post on X, CM Yogi offered condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Lord Ram for peace for the departed souls and the injured survivor’s swift recovery.

District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey and Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar visited the site and met the lone survivor, Aman Srivastava.

Pandey said the house belonged to Pramod Srivastava and preliminary findings indicated that an old-style roof on the second floor had collapsed.

All seven family members were sleeping in the same room when the structure gave way.

Six people died, while Aman survived and remains under medical observation.

The District Magistrate described the incident as deeply tragic and assured the survivor of all possible government support.

Officials will provide eligible relief and government benefits to Aman within 24 hours, Pandey said.

The nearly century-old house collapsed amid heavy rainfall in the Mahuli locality under the Kotwali police station area early Thursday. The debris buried all seven occupants as they slept.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene, removed the rubble and recovered the victims. They rescued Aman alive and admitted him to hospital.

Aman said he woke beneath the debris and managed to escape before attempting to save his relatives. When he could not reach them, he shouted for help, prompting neighbours and other residents to gather at the site. His parents, younger brother, wife and two young children died in the collapse.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
