Prashant Kishor predicts JD(U)-BJP alliance won’t survive until next Bihar Assembly Polls

In a recent statement, political strategist turned activist Prashant Kishor expressed his belief that the newly-formed alliance between JD(U) president Nitish Kumar and the BJP in Bihar would not withstand the test of time, predicting its unraveling before the 2025 assembly polls. Kishor, who has previously worked closely with both Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar, asserted that Nitish Kumar’s decision to align with the BJP was expected, referring to him as a ‘weathercock.’

Addressing reporters during his ‘Jan Suraaj’ campaign in Begusarai district, Kishor claimed that the BJP might end up paying a “huge price” for realigning with Kumar, especially after having previously stated that its doors were closed for him less than 18 months ago. According to Kishor, the BJP’s move seemed to be a strategic calculation for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, but he warned that it would have repercussions in the subsequent assembly elections.

“The BJP is doing now what the Congress had done during RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s time. Both national parties have aligned with hugely unpopular regional leaders for small gains at the central level,” alleged Kishor, drawing parallels with historical political maneuvers.

Kishor went on to predict that the alliance between Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and the BJP would not last until the assembly polls, and it might even dissolve within a few months of the Lok Sabha polls. He challenged the BJP to explain to its voters why it backed Kumar, despite previously closing its doors to him.

As part of his ‘Jan Suraaj’ campaign, Kishor emphasized the campaign’s commitment to putting an end to what he referred to as “revolving door politics.” Nitish Kumar recently resigned as the chief minister of Bihar, citing issues within the Mahagathbandhan and the opposition bloc INDIA, and subsequently staked claim to form a new government with the BJP. The evolving political dynamics in Bihar continue to be closely watched as the state approaches crucial elections.
