PM Narendra Modi Speaks To Oman Sultan And Kuwait Crown Prince On Gulf Security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held separate telephone conversations on Tuesday afternoon with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman and His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait.

The discussions came against the backdrop of rising tensions and security concerns in the Gulf region.

During both calls, the Prime Minister expressed India’s deep concern over the recent attacks reported in the respective countries. He underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, which holds significant strategic and economic importance for India.

A key focus of the discussions was the welfare and security of the Indian community residing in Oman and Kuwait.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the safety and well-being of Indian nationals abroad remain a top priority for the Government of India. Both leaders were apprised of India’s close monitoring of the evolving situation.

The Prime Minister emphasised that India values its longstanding ties with both nations and remains committed to safeguarding its citizens.

The conversations also reflected the strong diplomatic engagement between India and the Gulf countries.

India shares deep historical, economic and people-to-people connections with both Oman and Kuwait. A substantial Indian diaspora in these countries continues to contribute significantly to their economies.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s readiness to extend cooperation and maintain close coordination during this sensitive period. The outreach highlights New Delhi’s proactive diplomatic approach in addressing regional developments while ensuring the protection of its nationals.

The Prime Minister’s interactions form part of India’s broader diplomatic engagement with key regional partners.

The Government will continue to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate steps in the national interest.

Through these conversations, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to regional stability, constructive dialogue and the safety of its citizens in the Gulf region.
