Amit Shah’s Two-Day Ahmedabad Tour To Focus On Infrastructure And BJP Strategy

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to undertake a two-day visit to Ahmedabad beginning on the evening of 7 March. His itinerary for 8 March includes participation in multiple public events centred on strengthening the city’s infrastructure.

Visit Itinerary

As part of his programme, HM Shah will formally open a newly built sports complex in the Vastral locality. The project has been constructed for Rs 61.67 crore.

The facility has been designed to strengthen sporting infrastructure in the region. It is also expected to support preparations for international events such as the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

Authorities have indicated that the complex will promote sporting excellence at the grassroots level while offering advanced amenities for athletes.

The Home Minister will also dedicate to the public the first phase of the Kharicut Canal redevelopment scheme. Covering a 12.75-kilometre stretch between Naroda and Vinzol, the project is aimed at upgrading drainage systems and reinforcing Ahmedabad’s urban framework, particularly to address seasonal waterlogging challenges.

During his stay, HM Shah is scheduled to interact with leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Ahmedabad city unit. These discussions come as the party accelerates preparations for forthcoming municipal and panchayat elections through fresh district and morcha-level appointments.

Senior party functionaries have recently been designated as in-charges for prominent urban centres, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot.

The proposed visit follows HM Shah’s programme in Gandhinagar on 15 February, where he reiterated the Narendra Modi administration’s resolve to safeguard the interests of farmers, cattle rearers and fishermen in global trade negotiations.

On that occasion, he also introduced the country’s first Central Bank Digital Currency-based Public Distribution System at Mahatma Mandir, noting that the digital token mechanism would curb malpractice and improve transparency in distribution processes.

Officials stated that the forthcoming Ahmedabad engagements will combine developmental initiatives with internal party deliberations.
