PM Narendra Modi Hails Mission Drishti As GalaxEye Launches OptoSAR Satellite

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Mission Drishti as a landmark accomplishment in India’s expanding space programme after the successful deployment of a cutting-edge satellite by GalaxEye.

In a post shared on the social media platform, the Prime Minister highlighted that the mission reflects the country’s rising technological capabilities and showcases the determination of young innovators contributing to national development.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Mission Drishti by GalaxEye marks a major achievement in our space journey. The successful launch of the world’s first OptoSAR satellite and the largest privately-built satellite in India is a testament to our youth’s passion for innovation and nation-building.”

“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the founders and the entire team of GalaxEye,” the post read.

The Bengaluru-based firm successfully launched its first commercial satellite, Drishti, into orbit using the Falcon 9 rocket. The mission represents a notable advancement in Earth observation technology and strengthens India’s position in the global space industry.

With a weight of around 190 kilograms, the Drishti satellite stands as the largest privately built Earth observation satellite in India. It brings together Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems within a single integrated platform.

Equipped with a ‘SyncFused OptoSAR’ payload, the satellite can capture detailed images in all weather conditions, regardless of time.

SAR technology captures uninterrupted images through smoke, rain, and cloud cover, while conventional optical satellites remain affected by clouds and darkness.

Mission Drishti also underscores the rapid progress of India’s private space sector and highlights the growing contribution of startups in advancing technological frontiers.

The development is expected to encourage further innovation and strengthen the country’s space ecosystem.
