PM Narendra Modi Alleges Threat To West Bengal Identity At Jhargram Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that West Bengal’s cultural identity could be at risk due to what he described as the Trinamool Congress government’s agenda of encouraging illegal infiltration, while addressing a rally in Jhargram.

Addressing his third rally of the day in the tribal-dominated district, PM Modi said the upcoming Assembly elections would be crucial for safeguarding the state’s land and cultural identity.

The Prime Minister accused the Trinamool Congress of pursuing policies that favour infiltrators, claiming such a government would prioritise their interests over those of the state’s residents. He asserted that people of West Bengal were seeking political change, positioning the election as a decisive moment for the future of the state.

The Prime Minister said the Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently worked to preserve Bengal’s heritage. He pointed to the recognition of Bengali as a classical language and the availability of the Indian Constitution in Santali as examples of such efforts.

PM Modi also criticised the state government over governance and alleged corruption, contrasting it with ongoing development initiatives elsewhere in the country. He said that while people in Bengal face challenges, leaders of the ruling party continue to live in comfort.

Highlighting tribal welfare, PM Modi said that despite the expansion of initiatives like Eklavya Model Residential School across India, tribal communities in West Bengal were not receiving adequate benefits.

The Prime Minister further stated that those found responsible for governance failures and corruption would be held accountable if the BJP comes to power in the state.
