PM Narendra Modi Alleges Tribal Areas In West Bengal Regressed Under TMC Rule

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that tribal-dominated districts in West Bengal have regressed during the 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule, addressing a campaign rally in Purulia, his second public meeting of the day.

Speaking at the rally, PM Modi pointed to poor infrastructure in these districts, citing the condition of schools, roads and water supply systems. He said illegal mining activities had further worsened the situation in tribal areas.

Referring to local landmarks such as Ayodhya Hills and Sitakund, Prime Minister Modi highlighted water scarcity and challenges faced by farmers, adding that several development projects remain stalled due to the functioning of the state government.

The Prime Minister said the Bharatiya Janata Party has prioritised tribal welfare at the national level, noting the existence of a dedicated ministry and highlighting milestones such as India’s first tribal President. He also referred to states like Odisha and Assam having tribal Chief Ministers under the BJP rule.

PM Modi expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Assembly elections, citing strong public turnout at the rally despite extreme heat. He alleged that the state has witnessed corruption and intimidation over the past 15 years, impacting citizens across communities.

The Prime Minister further accused the Trinamool Congress government of being hostile toward tribal populations and creating obstacles in implementing Central government projects, including railway initiatives.

Calling for political change, PM Modi urged voters to support BJP candidates in the state Assembly, linking it to improved governance and faster execution of development projects.
