Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared highlights from his roadshow in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday and said that the public mood clearly signals the DMK’s defeat while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is showing secure, strong support in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Taking to the social media platform X, PM Modi said the enthusiastic turnout during the roadshow reflected clear backing for the NDA. He also posted a short video showing large crowds cheering, chanting his name and greeting him with visible excitement along the route.
In another post, the Prime Minister said he paid tribute to several prominent leaders during his Nagercoil visit, including Thiru K Kamaraj, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Thiru CN Annadurai and Thiru MG Ramachandran, recognising their contributions to public life and nation-building.
The roadshow, held on Wednesday in Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district, witnessed a massive turnout as the Prime Minister travelled through streets lined with supporters.
Standing atop an open-top vehicle, he waved to the crowd, which responded with chants, cheers and flower petals.
Senior NDA leaders, including AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran, former state BJP chief K Annamalai and senior leader Pon Radhakrishnan, accompanied him during the campaign event.
The NDA has intensified its election campaign in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Assembly polls scheduled for April 23.
Political activity has increased across the state, with parties actively mobilising support.
The NDA considers the campaign in southern Tamil Nadu, particularly the politically significant Kanyakumari region, crucial for its electoral strategy.
The Prime Minister’s roadshow is expected to boost party morale and strengthen outreach as campaigning enters its final phase.
The Election Commission will hold the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
