PM Modi Writes To Nitish Kumar On Bihar Diwas; CM Conveys Gratitude

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the occasion of Bihar Day, extending warm greetings and acknowledging the state’s historical legacy and growing contribution to national development.

In his letter dated March 22, 2026, PM Modi described Bihar Day as a celebration of the state’s rich heritage, traditions, and immense potential. He highlighted Bihar’s ancient contributions in knowledge, spirituality, and moral values, noting their enduring relevance in shaping society.

The Prime Minister also referred to global icons such as Gautama Buddha, whose teachings continue to inspire humanity, and historical figures like Chanakya and Chandragupta Maurya, who played key roles in building a strong and unified India.

Prime Minister Modi praised the people of Bihar for their diligence and talent, stating that they have established a distinct identity across India and globally.

He also acknowledged the cultural influence of the diaspora, highlighting traditions such as the Chhath festival gaining international recognition.

Underscoring development initiatives, PM Modi noted improvements in infrastructure, connectivity, and inclusive growth.

He cited welfare achievements, including over 40 lakh houses constructed, more than 1.2 crore gas connections provided, and continued support for farmers and women’s empowerment.

Responding to the message, Nitish Kumar expressed heartfelt gratitude and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to social justice, good governance, and comprehensive development.

He emphasised that with continued central support, Bihar’s people will drive the state and nation towards greater progress.
