Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the northeastern state of Assam later this week to attend key government programmes promoting development and strengthening infrastructure in the region.
According to officials, PM Modi will arrive in Guwahati on Friday and participate in a government function linked to several development initiatives.
During the visit, he will review ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects and interact with local representatives and officials.
The visit forms part of the Centre’s broader focus on accelerating development across the Northeast, a region that has seen increased infrastructure investment and policy attention in recent years.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister will travel to Silchar in southern Assam’s Barak Valley region. There, he will attend another official programme connected with development works in the area.
Officials said the event will highlight key projects aimed at improving connectivity, public services and economic opportunities in the Barak Valley while reinforcing the Union government’s focus on the Northeast’s growth and integration.
A day later, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Guwahati to address a major youth conference organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The event is expected to draw nearly one lakh young participants from across Assam.
Students, professionals, entrepreneurs and first-time voters are likely to attend, with organisers highlighting employment opportunities, skill development programmes and infrastructure projects in the Northeast.
Observers view the visits by PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to strengthen outreach and engage young voters in the region.
