Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Coimbatore on Wednesday to release the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN income support scheme and inaugurate the South India Organic Farming Conference at the CODISSIA Trade Complex.
His visit highlights the government’s continued commitment to supporting farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across India.
At the event, PM Modi will release ₹18,000 crore under the 21st PM-KISAN instalment, benefiting over nine crore farmers nationwide.
Under this flagship scheme, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three instalments.
The instalment being released today will support 21,80,204 beneficiaries in Tamil Nadu alone, including 44,837 farmers in Coimbatore district.
The Prime Minister is likely to highlight the scheme’s impact, explaining how the financial support empowers small and marginal farmers by ensuring a steady income and strengthening their agricultural resilience.
PM Modi will inaugurate the South India Organic Farming Conference organised by the Tamil Nadu Organic Farmers’ Federation.
Thousands of farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and other southern states have gathered for what is considered one of the largest organic farming events in the region.
During his address, he will emphasise the significance of sustainable and organic farming, highlighting its role in soil health, ecological balance, and long-term food security.
The Prime Minister will also honour outstanding organic farmers, presenting awards to individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in sustainable agriculture.
PM Modi will interact with farmers and agricultural scientists, discussing innovations, challenges, and the future of organic farming.
He will also visit stalls exhibiting organic produce, value-added products, and farming technologies, gaining first-hand insight into the progress made by farmers across the southern states.
PM Modi will arrive at Coimbatore International Airport from Puttaparthi, where Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and senior officials will receive him.
He will then travel by road to the CODISSIA complex, where organisers have made extensive arrangements for the public event.
Security agencies have deployed a five-layer security cover across Coimbatore, and the Special Protection Group (SPG) is overseeing security at the venue.
Authorities have banned drone operations, and police personnel are maintaining round-the-clock vigilance.
PM Modi will conclude his visit by 3.30 PM and then return to New Delhi.
