Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the grand national celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda in Dediapada, Narmada district, Gujarat, on 15 November 2025.
The event will highlight both heritage and progress, symbolising the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’ (Heritage and Development).
During the event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹8,400 crore, aimed at boosting Gujarat’s infrastructure and inclusive growth.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi have conducted a detailed review of preparations, ensuring the celebration reflects both cultural pride and administrative precision.
State minister and spokesperson Jitu Vaghani confirmed that commemorative events will take place across Gujarat, involving ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior bureaucrats to pay homage to Birsa Munda’s enduring legacy.
Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has witnessed renewed recognition of national heroes through milestone commemorations such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th anniversary and the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. Since 2021, 15 November has been observed nationwide as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, honouring the tribal community’s role in India’s freedom struggle.
In Gujarat, the fortnight-long observance from 1 to 15 November includes two Janjatiya Gaurav Yatras, from Ambaji and Umargam, covering 14 tribal districts and engaging over six lakh citizens.
These yatras encompass 82 health camps, 51 Seva Setu camps, and cleanliness drives across 2,500 sites, culminating at Ekta Nagar on 13 November.
Complementing the main event, 20 non-tribal districts will also host health, service, and cultural programmes from 13 to 15 November.
The national ceremony at Dediapada will feature a grand theatrical portrayal of Birsa Munda’s life and message, staged at Ekta Nagar in the divine presence of Devmogra Mata.
The celebration aims to unite citizens in reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of Birsa Munda, while reaffirming India’s commitment to tribal welfare and inclusive national growth.
