PM Modi To Interact With India’s Asian Para Games 2026 Contingent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with members of the Indian contingent that participated in the Asian Para Games 2026 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on Thursday, November 5.

The programme is scheduled to begin at around 04:30 PM, during which the Prime Minister will address the gathering.

The event will bring together athletes, coaches, officials from the Paralympic Committee of India and the Indian Olympic Association, representatives of National Sports Federations, and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

India delivered its best-ever performance at the Asian Para Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, winning 114 medals, including 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze.

A total of 97 Indian para-athletes contributed to the country’s record medal haul.

With this performance, India surpassed its previous best of 108 medals, including 27 gold, achieved at the 2023 edition in Hangzhou, China.

The contingent crossed the 100-medal mark for the second consecutive edition, reflecting the country’s growing strength in para-sports.

Para-athletics emerged as India’s biggest medal contributor, accounting for 65 medals, including 22 gold, 19 silver and 24 bronze. Para-badminton followed with 16 medals, while para-swimming added 11.

India won six para-archery medals, including three gold, and five shooting medals. The contingent secured seven bronze in para-table tennis, two silver in powerlifting and two judo medals.

Javelin thrower Sumit Antil defended his gold, while sprinter Simran Sharma won the 100m and 200m T12 events, setting Games records in both.

Mona Agarwal claimed shooting gold with a record score, helping India secure two quotas for the 2028 Paralympics.

50-year-old Jehan Dorab Madan became India’s oldest medallist with bronze in para-table tennis.
