PM Modi To Deliver Key Address At Kautilya Economic Conclave

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the prestigious Kautilya Economic Conclave on Friday, marking a significant moment in the three-day event taking place from 4 to 6 October in New Delhi.

The gathering will bring together around 150 global and Indian policymakers, academicians, and economists to tackle economic challenges that not only affect India but resonate across the Global South.

The Institute of Economic Growth, in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, is hosting the event, which will kick off with an inaugural speech by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

PM Modi’s address is at 6:30 PM on Friday evening, where he will likely outline key economic strategies and share insights into India’s development plans.

This year’s conclave will concentrate on a wide array of critical issues, including restructuring the international financial system, green energy transitions, the impact of geo-economic divisions, and innovative policies to avoid the middle-income trap.

Other topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) and its role in public policy, skilling the workforce, and ensuring economic resilience will also be discussed.

Prominent attendees include External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Bhutan’s Finance Minister Lyonpo Lekey Dorji, and PM Modi’s Principal Secretary PK Mishra.

International figures such as Justin Yifu Lin from Peking University and Masood Ahmed of the Centre for Global Development will also contribute to discussions.

Sessions will range from how India can bolster its job market and enhance innovation capabilities to addressing reforms needed for sustainable development and managing climate change.

The conclave’s discussions aim to position India as a global leader, particularly in the context of the upcoming IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings, COP 29, and the G20 Summit in Brazil.
