PM Modi To Address Over 3,000 Students At IIT Delhi Convocation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as Chief Guest on Saturday and address more than 3,000 graduating students.

The ceremony will begin at 11 AM, with IIT Delhi awarding degrees to over 3,000 students, including 587 PhD scholars.

PM Modi will also present IIT Delhi’s most prestigious honours to meritorious students in recognition of their exceptional academic performance. These include the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal and Perfect Ten Gold Medals.

A major highlight of the event will be the inauguration of Param Pragya, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility established at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus.

The advanced facility will significantly strengthen IIT Delhi’s research capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science, high-performance computing and interdisciplinary studies. It also reflects India’s growing commitment to expanding advanced computing infrastructure, supporting technological innovation and promoting cutting-edge research in emerging fields.

The Department of Science and Technology has identified Param Pragya as a key AI-based supercomputing facility that will enable researchers to process complex datasets, develop advanced computational models and undertake large-scale scientific projects.

The facility will also encourage collaboration among researchers, students and industry experts while accelerating innovation and advanced scientific research at the institute.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee confirmed that the Prime Minister would present the institute’s leading academic awards during the ceremony.

IIT Delhi has signed MoUs with 18 NITs to promote joint research, academic exchanges and knowledge-sharing across India.
