Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) Prime Minister’s Rally at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi on Wednesday, where he is expected to underline the importance of placing the nation first while nurturing discipline and character among the youth.
The rally marks the formal conclusion of the month-long NCC Republic Day Camp 2026, one of the organisation’s flagship events that brings together cadets from across the country.
This year’s camp saw the participation of 2,406 cadets, including 898 female cadets, reflecting the growing role of young women in leadership and national service.
Adding an international dimension, 207 youth and officers from 21 foreign countries also took part, reinforcing the NCC’s global outreach and cultural exchange.
The official theme of the rally, ‘Rashtra Pratham – Kartavya Nishtha Yuva’, highlights the ideals of national commitment, duty and disciplined citizenship that the NCC seeks to instil among young Indians.
NCC cadets, along with members of Rashtriya Rangshala and the National Service Scheme, will present a colourful cultural programme during the rally.
The performances will showcase themes of social service, unity, and the role of youth in nation-building.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the NCC Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantonment, describing NCC cadets as the country’s second line of defence. He urged young people to remain physically, mentally and emotionally resilient amid global uncertainty.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Singh said the armed forces delivered a measured and decisive response to terrorism, demonstrating courage and restraint.
He noted that the discipline and focus fostered by the NCC prepare youth for major responsibilities, regardless of whether they pursue careers in the armed forces, administration, science, education or public life.
He added that the NCC plays a vital role in addressing issues such as lack of focus, while promoting patience, continuity and strong character, qualities essential for both personal growth and national progress.
