In a symbolic gesture reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his third consecutive term by authorizing the release of the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Nidhi scheme.
On Monday, amidst a warm welcome from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) staff at South Block, PM Modi signed his first file since assuming office.
The Prime Minister, expressing humility, greeted the gathered staff with a traditional ‘namaste’ and extended his gratitude.
Following his swearing-in ceremony, PM Modi emphasized his government’s unwavering dedication to the betterment of farmers and the agricultural sector.
Around Rs 20,000 crore in released funds will benefit approximately 9.3 crore farmers across the nation.
This move underscores the administration’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural community, which forms the backbone of India’s economy.
PM Modi stated, “Ours is a Government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come.”
The attention now shifts to the distribution of portfolios within the newly formed Cabinet.
With 30 Cabinet Ministers, five Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State, the government aims to ensure a comprehensive representation catering to diverse sectors and regions.
The government intends to commence its duties swiftly, indicating a swift pace. This highlights that the inaugural Cabinet meeting of the new ministers is scheduled for later in the day.
PM Modi’s assumption of office for the third consecutive term marks a significant milestone in Indian political history.
Having taken the oath of office alongside 71 ministers in a ceremony presided over by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to serving the nation’s 140 crore citizens.
In his post-oath message, PM Modi expressed optimism about working alongside his Council of Ministers to propel India towards unprecedented heights of progress.
He remarked, “This team of Ministers is a great blend of youth and experience, and we will leave no stone unturned in improving the lives of people.”
With this latest development, PM Modi solidifies his position as the second Prime Minister, after Jawaharlal Nehru, to serve three consecutive terms, marking a historic juncture in India’s political landscape.
