PM Modi Salutes NSG Black Cats On 42nd Raising Day; Praises Courage And Precision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the National Security Guard (NSG), popularly known as the Black Cats, on its 42nd Raising Day.

The occasion marks the establishment of the elite counter-terrorism force on October 16, 1984.

PM Modi praised NSG personnel for their courage, precision and unwavering commitment to safeguarding citizens and protecting vital assets from terrorist threats. He highlighted the force’s dedication to national security and its role in responding to high-risk situations.

The NSG operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs as a specialised federal contingency force. It focuses on counter-terrorism operations, hostage rescue and other critical security challenges.

Its operational philosophy emphasises a “zero error” approach, reflecting the precision and discipline required during sensitive missions.

The Prime Minister’s post featured four images showcasing the commandos’ operational capabilities and rigorous training.

One image showed personnel rappelling from a helicopter onto a vessel, highlighting their ability to conduct specialised operations in challenging environments.

Another photograph depicted commandos carrying out waterborne assault exercises. A third image captured a public parade featuring NSG vehicles and canine units, reflecting the force’s diverse operational resources.

The fourth photograph showed personnel practising close-quarters tactical manoeuvres in confined spaces, a crucial skill for counter-terrorism missions.

The Raising Day recognises the NSG’s role in strengthening India’s internal security and preparing specialised teams to tackle complex threats.

The force trains its personnel to respond swiftly to terrorist attacks and other emergencies that demand coordinated, high-precision action.

Prime Minister Modi’s message acknowledged the dedication of the Black Cats, whose training and operational readiness remain central to their responsibility of protecting the country against terrorism.
