PM Modi Praises Plantation, Seed Conservation Efforts In ‘Mann Ki Baat’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday emphasised the transformative power of collective public participation, saying that even small efforts can create meaningful change when communities act together.

During the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, he highlighted initiatives emerging across India, reflecting the strength of unity and community spirit.

He cited a landmark plantation drive in Varanasi, where volunteers planted over 2.51 lakh saplings in a single hour, setting a Guinness World Records benchmark. Students, youth, volunteers, and institutions actively participated, driving the initiative’s remarkable success.

The Prime Minister also praised the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, under which millions of trees have been planted.

This initiative demonstrates the same spirit of public engagement and environmental responsibility.

In Chizami, women actively preserve traditional agricultural knowledge. They run a community seed bank that conserves over 150 varieties of rice, millet, maize, pulses, vegetables, and herbs, ensuring the continuity of indigenous farming practices.

PM Modi underlined the broader significance of these efforts, noting that local actions provide valuable lessons in addressing global environmental challenges, including climate change.

He explained that combining traditional knowledge with grassroots participation offers effective and sustainable solutions.

He urged communities to recognise their collective power, stressing that public participation can shape a greener, healthier future. By working together, people can achieve remarkable results that benefit both society and the environment.

These examples show that unity, responsibility, and proactive action at the grassroots level can transform ideas into real-world impact, inspiring others to contribute toward sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
