PM Modi Leads 49th PRAGATI Session To Drive Timely Infrastructure Delivery

On Wednesday at South Block, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 49th PRAGATI meeting, an ICT-driven multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation.

The forum connects the Centre with States to accelerate major projects, resolve hurdles, and guarantee delivery within set timeframes.

In this session, the Prime Minister examined eight key infrastructure projects in various sectors, including Mines, Railways, Water Resources, Industrial Corridors, and Power.

Spread across 15 States and Union Territories, the projects together represent an investment exceeding Rs 65,000 crore.

The meeting focused on firm deadlines, coordinated efforts across agencies, and swift problem-solving for projects seen as crucial to economic growth and social welfare.

The Prime Minister underlined that execution delays impose a dual burden, raising project costs while also denying citizens timely access to essential infrastructure and services.

He called on Central and State authorities to prioritise outcomes, ensuring opportunities translate into improved living standards for people, alongside smoother business operations for enterprises.

PM Modi further highlighted that States and Union Territories should establish review and monitoring mechanisms at their own level for flagship schemes, to secure timely progress and effective issue resolution.

Stressing the importance of reforms, he urged them to enhance competitiveness, boost efficiency, and encourage innovation, noting that such preparedness would enable the country to grasp new opportunities more rapidly.

Later in the evening, the Prime Minister shared an update on the 49th PRAGATI session through social media.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Chaired the 49th PRAGATI meeting earlier this evening. Vital projects across 15 states and UTs worth over Rs. 65,000 crore were reviewed. These works covered sectors like mines, railways, water resources, industrial corridors and power sectors.”
