PM Modi Launches Mission Sudarshan Chakra; Boosts National Security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Mission Sudarshan Chakra’, a decade-long programme to secure India’s vital establishments. He stressed that every citizen must feel protected and highlighted that the mission would rely entirely on research-based indigenous technology.

The initiative integrates advanced surveillance, cyber protection, and physical security tailored to India’s evolving threat environment.

Drawing from the Mahabharata, PM Modi referenced Lord Krishna shielding the sun to help Arjun defeat Jayadrath.

“We are taking inspiration from Lord Krishna, who once barred sunlight from reaching Earth.

Today, we must similarly shield our vital institutions from emerging threats,” he said, connecting India’s rich cultural heritage with modern security strategy.

PM Modi emphasised self-reliance in defence and critical infrastructure. Mission Sudarshan Chakra will involve collaboration between India’s premier research agencies, defence establishments, and private innovators.

This approach aims to reduce dependence on foreign systems and strengthen India’s sovereignty in security.

Addressing Modern Threats

The announcement comes amid growing global concerns over cyber warfare, hybrid threats, and sabotage of strategic assets.

Highlighting India’s historical vulnerabilities, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the Prime Minister said, “We cannot afford to be reactive. We must anticipate and prepare.”

Mission Sudarshan Chakra is designed to pre-empt threats rather than respond to them. The initiative aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, ensuring that defence and security technologies are developed domestically.

By leveraging cutting-edge innovation, the mission will position India to address strategic challenges with resilience and technological strength.

Mission Sudarshan Chakra represents a fusion of cultural ethos and modern strategic planning. Over the next decade, it will strengthen India’s critical infrastructure, enhance national security, and inspire confidence among citizens.

The initiative signals India’s commitment to safeguarding its future while championing indigenous innovation.

As India marks its 79th year of independence, Mission Sudarshan Chakra stands as both a symbolic and practical step toward a secure, self-reliant nation. Through advanced technology and strategic foresight, India aims to shield its vital establishments and ensure long-term safety for all citizens.
