PM Modi Lauds President’s Address For Outlining India’s Path Towards Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the President’s Address delivered at the start of the Budget Session presented a clear and purposeful vision for building a Viksit Bharat. He noted that the address successfully conveyed the country’s collective aspirations while outlining priorities for national growth.

Sharing his views on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi remarked, “The Budget Session of Parliament commenced today with Rashtrapati Ji’s inspiring address to both Houses. In our parliamentary traditions, this address has a special importance, as it spells out the policy direction and collective resolve that will guide our nation’s developmental journey in the coming months.”

According to PM Modi, the address drew attention to India’s notable progress in recent years and simultaneously offered a structured plan for the future.

“Today’s address was comprehensive and insightful. It reflected India’s remarkable development journey in recent times while showing a clear direction for the future. The emphasis on building a Viksit Bharat was perfectly captured, reflecting our shared aspiration of building a strong and self-reliant nation. The address also covered a wide range of themes, highlighting sustained efforts for farmers, youth, the poor and the downtrodden. It reaffirmed our collective commitment to further speed up the Reform Express and the emphasis on innovation and good governance,” PM Modi added.

President Murmu Reflects on Growth and Aspirations

The Budget Session formally commenced with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in New Delhi. She described the past year as a significant phase in India’s story of rapid advancement and rich cultural heritage.

Looking to the future, the President identified 2026 as a decisive year that would lay the groundwork for India’s transformation into a developed nation. She pointed out that sustained efforts over the last decade had reinforced the country’s foundations across key sectors.

President Murmu also spoke about the importance of remembering historical legacies.

She referred to commemorations such as the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and tributes marking anniversaries of Birsa Munda, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, noting that such remembrances inspire unity and purpose among citizens, especially the youth.

The address signalled the start of an important legislative phase, during which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey on January 29, followed by the Union Budget on February 1.

Ahead of the session, leaders from various parties expressed readiness to cooperate, setting a constructive and forward-looking tone for Parliament.
