PM Modi Inaugurates Bhairavaikya Mandir In Karnataka; Highlights India’s Cultural Legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Bhairavaikya Mandir at the Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasansthan Math in Mandya district, Karnataka, underlining India’s status as a living civilisation with an unbroken cultural legacy spanning thousands of years.

Before the inauguration, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Kala Bhairava temple within the Math Premise, where he paid floral tributes, performed aarti, and offered reverence to the deity.

PM Modi also prayed before the statue of late Balagangadharanatha Swamiji and other deities, walking through the premises with folded hands. He was accompanied by pontiff Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and other dignitaries.

The Prime Minister noted that Karnataka represents a blend of philosophy and technology, reflecting both deep-rooted spirituality and modern advancement. The Math, he said, has played a crucial role in guiding society through its teachings, values, and spiritual leadership.

The Prime Minister emphasised the contributions of spiritual leaders in shaping society, recalling the legacy of Balagangadharanatha Swamiji, whose work in education and healthcare benefited the poor and underprivileged. He noted that such leaders combined devotion with social service and problem-solving.

Drawing parallels with government initiatives, Prime Minister Modi highlighted inclusive development efforts, including the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides free healthcare to millions and now extends coverage to citizens above 70 years of age. He also referred to the late seer’s efforts in protecting peacocks, noting their ecological and cultural significance as India’s national bird and their association with Lord Subramanya.

Sharing a personal note, PM Modi mentioned frequently observing peacocks at his residence in New Delhi.

The Prime Minister said the spiritual experience at the temple would remain memorable and added that every visit to Karnataka brings renewed inspiration.
