Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday emphasised the importance of education reforms, women’s empowerment and community-driven development. He addressed a programme associated with Sardardham initiatives in Vadodara, Gujarat.
During his speech, the Prime Minister spoke about institutions such as Sardardham. He said they are playing a transformative role in guiding young people towards professional success.
Prime Minister Modi said these institutions provide academic support, training programmes and residential facilities for students.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described these institutions as ‘launching pads for future careers’. He said they especially support students preparing for competitive examinations and specialised professional opportunities.
PM Modi also referred to the earlier phases of Sardardham’s expansion. He noted that the girls’ hostels inaugurated previously are now supporting thousands of female students across the state.
According to him, additional hostel projects are being developed to widen educational access for women.
The Prime Minister discussed reforms introduced under the National Education Policy-2020. He said the education system now moves beyond conventional academics and promotes innovation, skill development and research-oriented learning.
PM Modi explained that apprenticeship opportunities are expanding nationwide to provide students with practical work experience alongside classroom education.
According to him, this approach reduces the disconnect between education and employment opportunities.
On women’s empowerment, PM Modi highlighted the growing participation of women across multiple sectors, including defence services. He mentioned initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, Matru Vandana, financial inclusion schemes, sanitation drives and housing programmes.
The Prime Minister also noted the increasing representation of women at the National Defence Academy and in fighter pilot roles, calling it a reflection of significant societal transformation.
Referring to legislative reforms, he said the ‘Nari Vandan Abhiniyam’ aimed to strengthen women’s political participation, although implementation faced political obstacles.
PM Modi further stated that Vadodara has emerged as a major manufacturing hub for metro coaches, railway equipment, heavy engineering, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and MSMEs.
During the programme, PM Modi inaugurated Sardar Dham Bhavan-3 and received the ‘Sardar Gaurav Ratna’ from Patidar community organisations for his association with initiatives inspired by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy.
