PM Narendra Modi inaugurated air services from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar, Haryana, on Monday, coinciding with the 135th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
The launch marked a major boost in regional air connectivity and infrastructure development.
In the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, PM Modi flagged off the first commercial flight of a 70-seater Alliance Air aircraft from Hisar to Ayodhya.
Alongside the inauguration, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new terminal building (Terminal-2) at the Hisar airport.
The upcoming terminal, with an investment of over ₹410 crore, will feature a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and an air traffic control building.
The development is expected to transform Hisar into a key regional aviation hub.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini described the airport as a significant gift for Hisar and nearby districts.
He said, “This service will enhance regional trade, tourism, and investment. April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti, will go down as a historic day for Haryana.”
During his visit, PM Modi also launched and laid the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects across Haryana, cumulatively worth ₹10,000 crore.
These projects aim to improve connectivity, power infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.
The new air service includes scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya twice a week and to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh three times a week, significantly improving the region’s connectivity.
Later in the day, PM Modi visited Yamunanagar to inaugurate and lay the foundation for additional key projects.
He laid the foundation stone for an 800 MW thermal power unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant.
Spread over 233 acres, the ₹8,470 crore project will enhance Haryana’s energy security and power reliability.
