PM Modi Extends Sharad Purnima Greetings, Hails Para-Athletes’ Historic Win; Condoles Jaipur Hospital Fire Victims

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes to citizens across India on the auspicious occasion of Sharad Purnima.

Taking to X, he posted, “Heartfelt wishes of Sharad Purnima to all my family members across the country. May this sacred occasion bring prosperity, happiness, and excellent health to all of you. May the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Chandradev bring welfare to everyone; that is my prayer.”

Earlier, PM Modi praised India’s para-athlete contingent for their exceptional performance at the World Para-Athletics Championships 2025, held in New Delhi.

India achieved its best-ever medal tally, securing 22 medals, including six Golds, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s para-sports journey.

“A historic performance by our para-athletes! This year’s World Para-Athletics Championships have been very special. The Indian contingent had its best-ever performance, winning 22 medals, including 6 Gold Medals. Congrats to our athletes. Their success will inspire several people. I am proud of each and every member of our contingent and wish them the very best for their future endeavours,” PM Modi posted.

He also expressed pride in India hosting the global tournament for the first time, acknowledging the participation of athletes and support staff from nearly 100 nations.

Condolences for Jaipur Hospital Fire

PM Modi also addressed the tragic fire at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan, which claimed eight lives and injured several others.

The loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan, is deeply saddening. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon: PM @narendramodi,” the PMO posted. 

Officials reported that the fire broke out late Sunday in the ICU ward of the hospital, prompting rescue and relief operations.

Through his messages, PM Modi simultaneously marked the cultural celebration of Sharad Purnima, celebrated the achievements of Indian para-athletes, and acknowledged the human tragedy in Jaipur.

These communications highlight the Prime Minister’s engagement with citizens on matters of celebration, national pride, and compassion.
