PM Modi Extends Birthday Wishes To Dharmendra Pradhan; Praises NEP Push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and commended his efforts in advancing the National Education Policy (NEP).

In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister said Pradhan has played an important role in implementing reforms aimed at positioning India as a leading destination for knowledge, education and innovation. He also wished him good health and a long life.

Political Journey

Dharmendra Pradhan currently heads the Ministries of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the Union government.

A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, the Minister was born in Talcher, Odisha, on 26 June 1969 and began his public life through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), where he steadily rose through the organisation’s ranks.

Dharmendra Pradhan’s electoral career commenced with his victory in Odisha’s Pallahara Assembly constituency in 2000. He later entered Parliament after winning the Deogarh Lok Sabha seat before moving to the Rajya Sabha, where he now represents Madhya Pradesh.

Dharmendra Pradhan became a member of the Union Council of Ministers after the NDA formed the government in 2014 and was subsequently elevated to the Cabinet.

During his Ministerial career, the Minister has overseen several significant departments, including Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and the Steel Ministry. He also holds the distinction of serving as India’s longest-serving Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, remaining in the role until the Cabinet reshuffle in 2021.

Since taking charge of the Education Ministry, Dharmendra Pradhan has focused on rolling out the National Education Policy 2020 across the country. His initiatives have centred on expanding quality education, promoting digital learning, encouraging multidisciplinary academic programmes and improving skill-based education to prepare students for future employment.

Over the years, the Minister’s contributions to public life have earned him multiple awards recognising his legislative performance and commitment to public service.
