PM Modi Extend Birthday Wishes To Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended warm birthday greetings to Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, commending his initiatives to accelerate the state’s progress and improve the lives of young residents.

Taking to the social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Greetings to Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Ji on his birthday. He is undertaking notable efforts to boost Tripura’s progress and to improve the lives of the state’s youth. Praying for his long and healthy life in the service of the people.”

Dr Saha, the first maxillofacial surgeon in Tripura, initially earned respect in medical circles before entering politics. Born to Makhan Lal Saha, a prominent entrepreneur in Agartala, he chose a career in medicine over the family business. He completed his dental studies in Patna and post-graduation in Lucknow.

He began his political journey with the Congress, but was not deeply involved in party activities. In 2016, he joined the BJP, contributing to the party’s efforts to end the Left Front government’s decades-long rule in Tripura.

After joining the BJP, Dr Saha supervised booth-level workers and developed a strong rapport with party leaders, including former state president Biplab Kumar Deb.

In 2022, the BJP appointed Dr Saha as leader of the legislature party, and he took oath as Chief Minister. Despite initial challenges due to Deb’s influence, his calm and strategic approach strengthened the party’s image.

Leading up to the February Assembly elections, Dr Saha implemented key schemes addressing public concerns. The BJP and its ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, secured 33 out of 60 seats, allowing Dr Saha, now 70, to begin his second term as Chief Minister.
