Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday sharply criticized Congress, accusing it of failing to deliver on election promises and damaging the fiscal health of states under its rule. Posting on X, Modi stated that Congress makes promises it cannot fulfill, misleading the public during each election. “Now, they stand badly exposed in front of the people!” he added.
PM Modi asserted that Congress-ruled states, including Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, suffer from worsening development and fiscal conditions. He argued that these unmet promises primarily impact the poor, youth, farmers, and women, who, according to him, see essential schemes diluted or rolled back.
Modi cautioned the public to be wary of Congress’s “culture of fake promises,” which he claimed was rejected recently in Haryana. “The people of India want development and progress, not the same old fake promises of Congress,” Modi said.
His comments come after Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, hinted at revisiting the “Shakti” scheme, which provides free bus rides for women, amid calls from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for more financially viable pledges in the state.
