Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and a respected economist. The Chief Minister extended his condolences to Debroy’s family, describing his death as an “irreparable loss” for the nation. He praised Debroy’s extensive contributions to India’s economic policies and reforms, acknowledging his vital role in shaping the country’s financial landscape.
Dr. Debroy, who passed away at 69 at AIIMS Delhi, was a scholar and devoted economist whose efforts impacted not only the economic field but also the broader intellectual sphere of the country. Honored with the Padma Shri, Debroy served as the Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune before his tenure as Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.
Adityanath expressed gratitude for Debroy’s significant legacy, which, he said, will inspire generations of policymakers.
