Prime Minister Narendra Modi credited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for shaping his life and giving him a sense of purpose. In a podcast with AI researcher Lex Fridman, PM Modi said the RSS instilled in him discipline, a nation-first mindset, and a service-driven philosophy.
“Through the RSS, I found a life of purpose. Spending time among saints gave me a strong spiritual foundation,” PM Modi said. He described the RSS as a key influence in his life, helping him develop a focused and disciplined approach.
PM Modi recalled joining the RSS at the age of eight. He said that singing patriotic songs and playing sports at the local RSS branch stirred something inside him. This led him to become part of the organization.
“One of the core values taught at RSS was to live with purpose,” he said. He credited the RSS for prioritizing values and skill development among youth. This, he said, ensured that young people remain grounded and contribute positively to society.
The PM highlighted the RSS’s work over the last 100 years, focusing on social causes that uplift tribals, women, labourers, and youth. He said the organization has consistently promoted education and moral values.
PM Modi praised the RSS for its selfless service. “The RSS has dedicated itself with the discipline and devotion of a seeker, staying away from the glare of mainstream attention,” he said. He described the RSS as a sacred organization that shaped his leadership and worldview.
PM Modi addressed the stress students face during exams. He said exams should not be seen as the ultimate test of a student’s potential. Through Pariksha Pe Charcha, he has been able to directly engage with students, listen to their concerns, and understand their views on education.
PM Modi shared his spiritual strength and connection with the people. “I believe in the 1+1 theory—one is Modi, and the other is the divine. I am never alone because God is always with me,” he said. He added that for him, ‘Jan Seva Hi Prabhu Seva’ (Serving people is serving God).
