PM Modi Congratulates New Recruits As Rozgar Mela Distributes Over 51,000 Appointment Letters

The 17th Rozgar Mela, organised by the Central government, took place across several regions of India, extending its reach to cities and districts in Gujarat as well.

The event, part of a broader employment initiative, saw appointment letters handed to candidates joining different Central government departments.

In Ahmedabad, the programme took place in the presence of Union Minister Nimu Bambhaniya, where 150 newly appointed individuals received their joining letters.

The campaign offered government roles to over 51,000 candidates nationwide, aiming to expand job opportunities across the country.

Addressing participants via video link, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the appointees. He described the occasion as more than a job offer, calling it a chance to serve the nation.

He urged the recruits to uphold the spirit of ‘Citizen Devo Bhava’, stressing dedication to public service and national progress.

Reflecting on India’s development journey, the Prime Minister said that in the past 11 years, the government has issued over 11 lakh appointment letters through various recruitment drives, signalling steady employment growth across sectors.

Under the Skill India Mission, young people continue to receive targeted training to enhance their employability.

The government also noted that initiatives such as the GST Savings Festival have eased the cost of essential goods, stimulated manufacturing, and generated additional jobs.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh joined the programme virtually and congratulated the recruits. He highlighted the Central government’s efforts to strengthen the employment ecosystem and create long-term opportunities.

According to the latest Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2022–23, Gujarat has maintained one of the lowest unemployment rates in India at 1.7 per cent. Moreover, this figure remains well below the national average of 3.2 per cent.

Officials attribute this to the state’s strong industrial base, entrepreneurial culture, and growing manufacturing and service sectors.

The state’s high labour participation rate continues to be driven by industries such as:

  • Textiles,
  • Chemicals,
  • Engineering, Automobile manufacturing,
  • Ports, and
  • Renewable energy

Expanding MSMEs and major infrastructure developments have also opened new avenues for skilled and semi-skilled workers.
