Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bihar Assembly election campaign in Samastipur, paying homage to Karpoori Thakur, the state’s revered Jan Nayak.
At a rally, he launched a sharp critique of the RJD-Congress alliance, accusing them of prioritising family politics over the welfare of Bihar’s citizens.
PM Modi stated that the RJD and Congress focus only on their families’ political futures.
“RJD and Congress are only concerned about the political future of their own families. That’s why they are setting new records in lying to the youth of Bihar. Where there is RJD, there can be no law and order. Under their rule, extortion, murder, ransom, and kidnapping flourished as industries,” he said, recalling the infamous jungle raj era.
He warned that attempts to claim the ‘Jan Nayak’ title dishonour Thakur’s legacy, asserting that Bihar’s people would never tolerate this.
Highlighting the achievements of the NDA government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, PM Modi emphasised the transformation of governance into tangible prosperity inspired by Thakur’s ideals.
He noted the state’s progress in roads, electricity, water, internet, and gas connections, calling these tools of empowerment.
PM Modi highlighted key development projects, including a six-lane highway from Samastipur to Purnea, new railway lines, Vande Bharat trains, and power plants.
He emphasised that the NDA government allocated three times more funds for Bihar’s development than during the Congress era, signalling a focus on both growth and stability.
PM Modi announced initiatives for Mithila’s makhana (fox nut) farmers, including the creation of a Makhana Board, calling it the start of a new agricultural revolution.
He also praised the Women’s Employment Scheme, noting that Rs 10,000 had been transferred to 1.2 crore women, and promised further incentives after the election.
Before addressing the rally, PM Modi visited Karpoori Gram, paid respects to Thakur, and interacted with his family.
He described Thakur as ‘a precious gem of Mother India’ and highlighted his government’s efforts to uplift Dalits, Mahadalits, backward and extremely backward classes through extended reservations and policies supporting social equity.
The rally marked the official launch of the NDA’s Bihar Assembly election campaign 2025, emphasising development, social justice, and governance.
PM Modi thanked the crowd for attending despite the festive season, declaring that the enthusiasm in Samastipur signalled strong support for the NDA’s vision for Bihar.
