PM Modi Commends Uttarakhand Woman For Developing Bhojpatra Calligraphy During ‘Mann Ki Baat’

In a recent edition of “Mann ki Baat,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the women of the Niti-Mana Valley in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, near the India-China border, for her impressive work in developing Bhojpatra calligraphy as a means of livelihood. Modi expressed admiration for how Bhojpatra, an integral part of India’s cultural heritage and used to write the ancient epic of Mahabharata, has brought new prosperity to the lives of these women.

The Prime Minister applauded the use of cultural heritage to boost the local economy, particularly as Bhojpatra artifacts crafted by the women from Mana village have gained popularity among tourists. He fondly recalled receiving a beautiful piece of Bhojpatra calligraphy as a gift from a woman during his October visit to the border village near Badrinath.

Modi encouraged tourists and pilgrims to support the local community by purchasing as many local products as possible during his October visit to Mana. He was pleased to learn that Bhojpatra products are selling well at good prices.
