PM Modi Commends Education Sector For Enhanced Global University Rankings, Vows Research & Innovation Support

In a commendable acknowledgment of the strides made by Indian universities in global rankings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the education sector for its remarkable performance, as showcased in the QS World University Rankings 2025.

Expressing his appreciation, PM Modi pledged to intensify efforts to bolster research and innovation during the new term.

Reflecting on the transformative journey of the education sector over the past decade, Prime Minister Modi attributed the enhanced rankings to a concerted focus on qualitative improvements.

He extended his congratulations to the students, faculty, and institutions for their unwavering dedication and hard work in achieving this milestone.

Government’s Commitment To Education Enhancement

Looking ahead, PM Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to further elevate the standards of research and innovation across the academic landscape.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came in response to a post by Nunzio Quacquarelli, the CEO and Managing Director of QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd, wherein Quacquarelli underscored the commendable progress witnessed under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

Quacquarelli noted that over the past decade, Indian universities have demonstrated a remarkable advancement in the QS World University Rankings, marking a 318% increase in representation.

In 2015, the rankings listed only 11 institutions from India, a number that has surged to 46 in 2024.

The QS report further highlighted India’s exceptional growth trajectory in comparison to other G20 nations, with the country registering the highest percentage increase in representation over the past decade.

This surge not only underscores the rising global stature of Indian academia but also signals a promising trajectory for the nation’s knowledge economy.

As India continues its journey towards becoming a global hub for innovation and knowledge creation, Prime Minister Modi’s affirmation of sustained support for research and innovation underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering an ecosystem conducive to academic excellence and intellectual advancement.

With a renewed impetus on harnessing the potential of its academic institutions, India is poised to consolidate its position as a beacon of knowledge and innovation on the global stage.
