In a recent interview, Hollywood icon Jennifer Aniston, famed for her portrayal of Rachel Green in the iconic sitcom “Friends,” expressed her astonishment at the enduring popularity of the show, which continues to captivate audiences even three decades after its debut.
During Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ series, Aniston shared her disbelief at the immense success of “Friends.”
She stated, “I never thought it would become such a huge success and still be popular 30 years on from its debut.”
She described the show’s longevity as “one of the greatest gifts” for the entire cast, including herself and her co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry.
Aniston reminisced about the camaraderie among the cast, highlighting the enduring bond they share.
“We see each other. I talked on FaceTime with Courteney (Cox) last night for an hour, and Lisa and the boys, and we just have a really — it’s a family forever,” she revealed.
The actress fondly recalled a prank she and Perry played on Kudrow on the day of the show’s premiere.
“During a lunch outing with Matthew Perry, we discovered Lisa (Kudrow) was at the salon getting her hair colored. Without hesitation, I rushed into the salon, seized the nozzle from the stylist, and began washing Lisa’s hair while she was at the sink,” recounted Aniston.
Despite the prank spiraling out of control, she described the excitement they shared as if it were just yesterday.
“Friends” aired for ten successful seasons from 1994 to 2004, captivating audiences with its relatable characters, witty humor, and enduring friendships.
With its timeless appeal, the show continues to resonate with viewers worldwide, solidifying its place in television history.
