PM Modi Birthday: President Murmu Extends Greetings, Praises 25 Years In Public Life

President Droupadi Murmu extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, praising his 25 years in public life and his contribution to governance and inclusive development.

In a social media post, President Murmu said PM Modi had established new benchmarks of good governance during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister. She further said his leadership had given fresh momentum and direction to inclusive development.

President Murmu noted that India was pursuing modern development while maintaining a sense of cultural pride. She said citizens were witnessing a balance between heritage and development and wished PM Modi good health and a long life to continue his public service and nation-building efforts.

PM Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat. He began his political journey through organisational work with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and later joined the BJP’s organisational structure. He then became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and served in the post for more than 12 years. In 2014, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi and Vadodara and won both seats, later retaining Varanasi.

PM Modi took the oath as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, after the BJP won 282 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. He retained the Varanasi seat in the 2019 election, when the BJP won 303 seats.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, PM Modi won Varanasi for a third consecutive time. The BJP secured 240 seats, while PM Modi subsequently took the oath for a third consecutive term as Prime Minister.

This year marks 25 years of PM Modi’s public life since he became Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001.
