PM Modi Attacks Congress In Rajya Sabha; Flags Reform Vision During Protests

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mounted a pointed attack on the Congress during his reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. He spoke while responding to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address.

He accused successive Congress-led governments of operating without vision, clarity, or political resolve.

Speaking during a tense Budget Session marked by Opposition protests and walkouts, PM Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha. He said a close reading of Congress Prime Ministers’ Red Fort speeches shows a lack of long-term vision.

PM Modi argued that these addresses showed neither a strategic roadmap nor the determination required to propel national growth.

The Prime Minister said the country paid a heavy price for this deficit over several decades. He claimed India lost valuable opportunities and suffered economic setbacks due to weak decision-making and policy drift.

PM Modi expressed gratitude to the people of India for placing their trust in him. He said his government devoted significant effort to correcting structural errors and legacy problems inherited from earlier administrations.

According to the Prime Minister, this corrective phase formed a major part of his tenure.

The Prime Minister added that the government paired this course correction with a clear pivot towards future-oriented governance. He said his administration replaced ad-hoc decisions with structured, policy-led frameworks designed to deliver predictable outcomes.

This approach, PM Modi stated, restored confidence within the country and strengthened India’s standing abroad. He said global partners now viewed India as a more credible and dependable economy.

Highlighting the core philosophy of his administration, the Prime Minister reiterated the reform–perform–transform mantra. He said India had firmly boarded what he termed the ‘reform express’. He pointed to wide-ranging reforms across sectors.

These included changes in agriculture, manufacturing, services, infrastructure, and technology. He said the objective was to add value across the economic chain and enhance competitiveness.

PM Modi asserted that these reforms positioned India to compete globally in trade, innovation, defence production, and diplomacy. He said the country is now engaged with the world with greater confidence and capability.

His remarks came against the backdrop of repeated disruptions in Parliament.

Opposition protests over procedural issues in the Lok Sabha led to adjournments and curtailed his reply there on Wednesday.

In the Rajya Sabha, despite brief sloganeering, the Prime Minister completed his address. He outlined the government’s achievements and future agenda.

Prime Minister Modi sharply contrasted this record with what he described as the Congress era’s policy paralysis and short-term thinking.

The speech reinforced the government’s effort to frame reform and stability as central to India’s economic narrative.
