Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended his greetings to the medical fraternity on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, commending doctors for their unwavering dedication, compassion and commitment to public service. He described their tireless efforts as the backbone of India’s healthcare system and acknowledged the trust and gratitude they have earned by serving patients, often under the most challenging circumstances.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister said doctors continue to play a vital role in safeguarding the nation’s health through their professionalism and selfless service. He also highlighted the remarkable progress made in strengthening India’s healthcare ecosystem over the past decade.
PM Modi noted that the number of medical colleges across the country has more than doubled, while undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats have expanded significantly.
According to him, this growth is creating greater opportunities for aspiring doctors, strengthening the healthcare workforce, and improving access to quality medical care in every part of the country.
Reaffirming the government’s vision of building a Viksit Bharat, the Prime Minister said doctors will remain central to promoting preventive healthcare, advancing medical research, embracing innovation, and ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare for all citizens.
