Passport Fees Revised From July 1: Check New Charges For Fresh, Tatkaal And Renewal Applications

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced a comprehensive revision of passport service fees, with the updated rates coming into force on 1 July 2026.

The revised pricing covers fresh passport applications, renewals, Tatkaal services, replacement of lost or damaged passports, police clearance certificates (PCCs), and several other documentation services.

The new charges will apply to applications submitted both within India and through Indian diplomatic missions overseas.

The fee for a standard 36-page passport for adults, including renewals, has increased to ₹2,500 from ₹1,500.

Similarly, applicants opting for a 60-page passport under the normal category will now pay ₹3,500 instead of ₹2,000.

Under the Tatkaal scheme, the revised fee stands at ₹5,000 for a 36-page passport and ₹6,000 for a 60-page booklet.

The Ministry has also raised the cost of replacing lost or damaged passports.

Applicants will now pay ₹5,000 for a 36-page replacement passport and ₹6,000 for a 60-page booklet, while the Tatkaal replacement fee for a 60-page passport has been increased to ₹8,500.

Children below the age of 18 will also come under the revised pricing. A normal 36-page passport for minors will now cost ₹1,750, while the Tatkaal application fee has risen to ₹4,250.

Revised charges now apply to the replacement of lost or damaged passports for minors.

In addition, the fee for obtaining a Police Clearance Certificate and other passport-related certificates has increased to ₹750.

Indian citizens applying through embassies and consulates abroad will pay according to a separate overseas fee schedule.

A standard 36-page passport application now costs US$125, while the Tatkaal fee now stands at US$250.

The government will continue providing a 10 per cent concession on fresh passport applications for children under eight years of age and senior citizens above 60.

Applicants seeking passport reissue services will not be eligible for the discount.
