PM Modi Departs Seychelles After Three-Day State Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for New Delhi on Monday after concluding a three-day State visit to Seychelles, during which he strengthened bilateral ties through high-level engagements, community interactions and the signing of key agreements.

Before leaving, the Prime Minister greeted members of the Indian community gathered outside the airport.

Supporters waved Indian flags and chanted slogans as he interacted with them.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi paid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Peace Park, visited the Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple and met members of the Indian diaspora.

During the visit, PM Modi attended Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour at the invitation of President Patrick Herminie.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister described the occasion as a tribute to the remarkable journey of the Seychellois people over the past 50 years and reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Seychelles’ development.

The Prime Minister also received the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’, Seychelles’ highest civilian honour, recognising his leadership in environmental conservation, sustainable development and green growth.

PM Modi and President Patrick Herminie discussed expanding cooperation in trade, technology, connectivity, healthcare, education, defence and digital infrastructure, while reviewing 50 years of diplomatic ties.

India and Seychelles also signed key agreements, including a ₹1,250-crore Line of Credit, to boost cooperation in trade, agriculture and technology.

During the visit, PM Modi addressed the Seychelles National Assembly.

The MEA reaffirmed Seychelles’ importance in India’s MAHASAGAR vision and strategic partnership in the Indian Ocean.
