Parvesh Verma Slams Kejriwal, Promises Housing For Slum Dwellers If BJP Wins Delhi

Former BJP MP Parvesh Verma accused AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal of betraying Delhi’s slum dwellers. Verma, now the BJP candidate from the New Delhi seat, pledged that the first Cabinet meeting of a BJP government would pass a resolution to allot houses to all slum residents.

Parvesh Verma criticized Kejriwal for demolishing slums, collecting ₹70,000 to ₹1 lakh as application fees, and failing to deliver houses built during the Congress regime. “The BJP government will hand over keys to 8,000 ready flats in areas like Savda Ghevra and Baprola,” he said at a press conference.

He accused Kejriwal of focusing on personal luxury, claiming the AAP leader built a lavish ‘Sheesh Mahal’ for himself by demolishing five bungalows. Meanwhile, slum dwellers continue to live in poor conditions.

Highlighting demolitions at Kushak Nallah, Silver Oak Park, and Delhi Gate, Verma alleged that AAP-led municipal authorities targeted slums inwards with AAP councillors. He said slum residents are angry over Kejriwal’s failure to fulfil his promises.

Uma, a Bharti Nagar slum resident, shared her frustration. “We’ve waited 10 years for a pucca house. Every time we ask, they tell us to wait or promise it after the next election,” she said.

Verma also accused Kejriwal of ignoring Dalits, disabled individuals, and widows. He claimed that 8,000 flats for slum dwellers, built under Congress, remain unallotted due to AAP’s inaction.

Addressing Jat reservations, Verma said Kejriwal failed to pass a resolution in the Assembly to forward the issue to the Centre. He also alleged that AAP deployed 50 Punjab MLAs in Delhi to boost its campaign, suggesting that Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann fears Kejriwal may shift focus to Punjab if AAP loses in Delhi.

Verma concluded by urging slum dwellers to hold Kejriwal accountable for broken promises and support the BJP for real change.
