Pakistan Naval Ship Collides With Indian Navy Unit After Unsafe Manoeuvre

India on Wednesday lodged a strong protest with Pakistan after a Pakistani naval ship collided with an Indian Navy unit during a routine surveillance mission in the North Arabian Sea.

According to sources, the incident occurred on the evening of September 15 when the Pakistan Naval Ship approached a frontline Indian Navy unit at high speed and carried out what India described as an ‘unprofessional and unsafe’ manoeuvre, resulting in the collision. No major damage occurred in the incident.

Following the incident, India summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi and lodged a strong protest over the Pakistani naval unit’s conduct.

The MEA described the action as ‘unacceptable and unprofessional’ and said the incident occurred in international waters.

It added that the conduct was in direct contravention of Article 10 of the April 1991 Agreement between India and Pakistan on Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Manoeuvres and Troop Movements.

India asked the Pakistani diplomat to convey to the concerned authorities the need for all military units to exercise due care and comply with relevant bilateral agreements to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The MEA also instructed India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad to lodge a similar protest with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The incident comes amid ongoing military and diplomatic engagement between the two countries. India stressed adherence to established agreements to prevent such incidents.

The collision occurred during the Indian Navy unit’s routine surveillance mission in the North Arabian Sea.

According to the information released by the Indian side, no major damage was caused in the incident.

India’s formal protest seeks to underscore the need for greater caution and compliance with bilateral arrangements during naval operations, particularly in international waters.
