Opposition Unity Does Not Seem To Be United As AAP Gives Congress An Ultimatum

Patna saw the opposition unity meeting on Friday, which was to discuss and establish an alliance of opposition parties of India. But it seems that there is a clash of two national parties – Aam Admi Party and Congress. The most pressing point to be noted is that Bhagwant Maan, CM of Punjab and Arvind Kejriwal, AAP Party chief missed the conference that followed the meet. However, Nitish Kumar, Bihar CM claimed that he was running late for his flight.

AAP will not be party of opposition meet if…

Disclosing the matter from AAP’s side, the party Chief stated that the party will not be part of any kind of such meets if Congress is part of the same. It will be the case until Congress publicly opposes the Centre’s contentious ordinance on the control of administrative services in Delhi. This was a kind of ultimatum that was for Congress to either support AAP in its purpose or they cannot form an alliance.

AAP party issues statement

Silence in any way is highly suspicious and Congress’ silence in matter of Centre’s control on Delhi somehow justifies the actions of Arvind Kejriwal. As per sources, Congress leaders will abstain from voting on the matter in Rajya Sabha. AAP issued its statement on the meet via Twitter. The statement highlighted Delhi’s ordinance as ‘The Black Ordinance’. And highlighted how democracy is affected by the same. AAP hits out on (Indian National Congress ) INC and says, “Except for the Indian National Congress, all other 11 parties which have representation in the Rajya Sabha have clearly expressed their stand against the Black Ordinance and announced that they would oppose it in the Rajya Sabha.”

Meeting not to discuss parliamentary issues: Congress

Raising a pitch for a united Opposition against the Bharatiya Janata party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress said that the meeting is not to discuss parliamentary issues such as the Delhi ordinance.

“Opposing it (ordinance) or proposing it does not happen outside, it happens in Parliament. Before Parliament begins, all parties decide what issues they have to work on together. They know it, and even their leaders come to our all-party meetings. I don’t know why there is so much publicity about it outside,” Kharge had earlier told reporters ahead of the meet.
