Operation Sindoor Is Ongoing, Says Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday confirmed that Operation Sindoor remains active, and the Army monitors every enemy move closely. He stressed that India’s northern borders remain stable, but continuous vigilance is essential.

Addressing an investiture ceremony at South Western Command, he noted a sharp rise in global armed conflicts over the past year.

“Nations that stay prepared succeed,” he said.

General Dwivedi recalled the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, and explained that India decided to respond decisively.

Operation Sindoor targeted nine terrorist camps and infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK. The Army destroyed seven sites within 22 minutes, causing severe losses.

Within 88 hours, Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, showcasing India’s operational precision and strength.

He highlighted the 78th Army Day Parade in Rajasthan, saying it will demonstrate the Army’s discipline, capability, and resilience.

General Dwivedi congratulated units receiving COAS Citations and Certificates of Appreciation.

The Army Chief said deployment along the LAC is strong and balanced. Under the Whole-of-Nation approach, infrastructure and capability development continue steadily.

He added that Jammu and Kashmir remains sensitive but firmly under Army control, with development efforts reducing terrorist recruitment.

General Dwivedi also cited improvements in the Northeast, mentioning Manipur, cultural revival, and initiatives like the Shirui Lily Festival and Durand Cup.

The Assam Rifles and Home Ministry maintain a multi-agency security grid to prevent cross-border threats.

General Dwivedi praised the Army’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief work, noting more than 30,000 rescues this year.

He said future wars require national coordination, self-reliance, and innovation.

He announced new formations, including the Rudra Brigade, Bhairav Battalion, and Shaktibhan Regiment, and highlighted indigenously developed equipment under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

General Dwivedi also emphasised women’s growing roles in the Army, including commissioning as officers and soldiers.
