Following the victory in Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections after 10 years, Jammu & Kashmir Conference Party’s Omar Abdullah takes oath as the Chief Minister of the valley. Abdullah was sworn in by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Center.
Notably, Omar became the first Chief Minster after abrogation of Article 370 from the valley. Jammu and Kashmir Conference party finished first securing 43 of total of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent leader of INDIA bloc graced the event with their presence. Leader like, Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Sule, Sanjay Singh, and Konimozhi among others were present during the grand event of swearing in ceremony.

Omar Abdullah’s oath marks the beginning of fist elected government in the Jammu and Kashmir. Omar along with few other minister took oath at 11:30 AM today.
It is noteworthy that key member of INDIA bloc, Congress, has restrained from becoming the part of the government. INC affirms the support for the new government from the outside.
Among the ministers who took oath of secrecy are, Satish Sharma, Javed Ahmad Dar, Sakina Itto, Javed Ran. Moreover, Surinder Kumar Chaudhary took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
The results of three phased Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections were declared on 8 October, granting comfortable majority to opposition bloc. JKCP secured 43 seats while BJP garnered 29 of total of 90 constituencies, finishing as a runner up. INC was limited to only 6 seats in the valley.
