In a major breakthrough, police in Noida’s Sector-39 area engaged in a gunfight with a gang involved in stealing valuables by breaking car windows.
The encounter took place during an ongoing operation to crack down on such criminal activities plaguing the city.
Nadeem Ahmed, a known offender with a long criminal record, was shot in the leg and is currently receiving medical treatment under police custody.
The gang was reportedly responsible for several cases of vehicle break-ins, where they would shatter car windows and steal electronic items, handbags, and other costly possessions.
The gang’s operations had created panic among residents, especially in public parking areas and outside shopping centres.
The latest development has helped police link the gang to a robbery that occurred just 48 hours earlier.
Authorities believe this gang is responsible for a series of similar incidents across Noida and parts of Delhi.
Following the encounter, Sector-39 police launched a thorough combing operation in the area.
Police arrested two of Nadeem’s accomplices- Akash alias Tamatar alias Lala and Ashish—both residents of Daya Basti Railway Colony, Sarai Rohilla, Delhi.
They were reportedly hiding nearby and attempting to evade capture.
According to the police, both accomplices have been involved in multiple criminal activities alongside Nadeem.
The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of their operations and identify further associates.
Nadeem Ahmed is no stranger to the police, with more than a dozen FIRs registered against him, including charges of theft and armed robbery.
Authorities confirmed that Nadeem operated across NCR regions and executed swift, well-planned thefts.
Senior police officials are actively gathering information about his past crimes and have initiated legal proceedings to bring all culprits to justice.
The Noida police have ramped up surveillance and patrolling efforts in vulnerable areas, particularly in light of the recent surge in vehicle-related thefts.
This incident has served as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling organised street crime.
The successful encounter and arrests represent a significant step towards restoring safety and confidence among residents of Noida.
