PM Modi & Leaders Extend Warm Birthday Wishes To Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar On His 74th Birthday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu joined leaders across India in extending birthday greetings to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who turned 74 on Sunday.

Recognised for his constitutional acumen and legislative leadership, Dhankhar received heartfelt tributes celebrating his lifelong dedication to public service.

In particular, Prime Minister Modi paid a rich tribute to Dhankhar, lauding his legal brilliance and leadership as Rajya Sabha Chairman.

In his message, PM Modi stated, “Greetings to our Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday. He is blessed with tremendous knowledge of our Constitution, reflecting from his years of work as a leading lawyer. He has made commendable efforts to boost the productivity of the Rajya Sabha. His interest towards serving society is also immense. May he lead a long and healthy life.”

Warm Wishes From The President

In a post shared on X, President Murmu conveyed her greetings and good wishes to the Vice President.

“Hearty greetings and best wishes to @VPIndia Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday! I wish him good health and very many years in the service of the nation,” she wrote, acknowledging his distinguished service to India.

Born on May 18, 1951, in Kithana village, Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, Dhankhar began his career as a Senior Advocate.

He specialised in cases involving steel, coal, mining, and international arbitration.

Over the years, he argued cases in various High Courts and the Supreme Court, gaining recognition for his legal acumen.

Building on this legal foundation, Dhankhar entered politics in 1989, winning a Lok Sabha seat from Jhunjhunu.

He served as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in 1990 and won election to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1993.

He later assumed the role of Governor of West Bengal in July 2019 and, in 2022, became the 14th Vice President of India.
