In a bold response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian tourists and a local pony ride operator, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’.
It was a tri-service military operation targeting high-value terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The strikes delivered a clear and emphatic message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism, with the government declaring, ‘No More’.
At 1 AM, the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force jointly executed 24 missile strikes on terror-linked facilities in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal.
These strikes, aimed at terrorist camps, safehouses, and logistics bases, killed over 70 terrorists and injured more than 60 others.
Government sources confirmed that the targets had links to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, two Pakistan-based terror outfits involved in planning attacks on India.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, joined by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Air Force, addressed the media in a post-strike briefing.
They outlined the operation’s goals: to dismantle terror infrastructure, neutralise operatives, and prevent future cross-border attacks.
Misri described the operation as a “measured, proportionate, and responsible response” to Pakistan’s persistent support of terrorism.
During the briefing, the government screened a video montage highlighting key terror attacks on Indian soil over the last two decades. These included the:
The video concluded with a stark message: ‘No More’, followed by the words ‘Operation Sindoor’.
A senior government source called the operation ‘a statement of strategic resolve’ and described it as a departure from past doctrinal constraints.
All missile targets were hit within an hour, with UAVs providing real-time confirmation, ensuring minimal risk and maximum precision.
The source emphasised that India targeted no civilian infrastructure or Pakistani military facilities, reinforcing the non-escalatory intent of the mission.
Prime Minister Modi monitored the mission overnight with NSA Ajit Doval and top commanders.
“This government has kept its promise—those responsible will be held accountable,” said an official statement, echoing India’s unwavering commitment to justice and national security.
India maintained that the operation aimed to neutralise threats, not escalate conflict.
“Our actions were focused, restrained, and justified,” the government said, criticising Pakistan for offering denials instead of decisive action following the Pahalgam attack.
